Chief Financial Officer
Leeds based – minimum of 3 days on site
 
Surgical Innovations are an AIM listed global healthcare business, with its head office and manufacturing facility based in Leeds. Specialising in the design and manufacture of innovative surgical devices for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) predominantly within laparoscopy, their innovative, patented products are a highly sustainable and high-quality choice for surgeons across the globe. They have recently appointed a new Board with the ambition to drive significant change and growth, and they are seeking a commercially minded and professionally qualified CFO, who will partner and deputise for the CEO to provide strong financial and commercial leadership across the group. This appointment will be instrumental in leading change and offers an opportunity to facilitate the growth plans, realise the commercial potential of the business and increase shareholder value. You will be a people focused leader skilled at coaching and developing high performing, engaged teams delivering a business partnering approach.
 
Summary of responsibilities:
 

  • Be a key member of the Executive Leadership team, contributing to the overall strategic direction, governance and culture of the business.
  • Develop and deliver financial strategy aligned to business objectives and to support profitable ambitious growth plans.
  • Provide robust, insightful reporting and guidance to support the Board and management make informed decisions.
  • Support production, R&D, procurement, HR, sales & marketing and operational units to efficiently deliver growth plans.
  • Produce interim and annual reports, presenting to investors and develop strong, effective external advisor relationships.
  • Manage the monthly reporting and statutory reporting cycle, quarterly forecasting and budgeting process.
  • Lead, develop, coach and inspire the finance team to be a value add, integrated business partner to all operations.
 
Experience and personal qualities required:
 
  • Fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) senior finance leader with previous experience of working as part of a collaborative team driving growth and organisational change.
  • Strategic, forward-looking mindset providing decisive leadership whilst being resourceful and ‘hands on’ as part of a small team. 
  • A manufacturing background with a deep understanding of complex costing, pricing and inventory strategies.
  • Experience of successfully delivering change and transformation in a fast-paced, growing global organisation.
  • International and investor relations experience would be beneficial, although not essential.
  • Data-driven with excellent analytical skills
  • Be a trusted, collaborative sounding board and advisor to the CEO, Chair and senior leadership team.
  • Grounded and authentic with high emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills.
